Raise DC Staff and Operations
Tim Payne joined Raise DC's staff in August 2018 as its Executive Director. As an active member in Raise DC's work, Payne previously served as a co-chair of the Postsecondary Access and Completion Change Network (PACCN) and as a member of the DC contingent of the StriveTogether Leadership Program.
Payne comes to Raise DC from For Love of Children (FLOC), a nonprofit organization that has worked to offer educational services to DC’s most vulnerable, high-risk children and youth since its founding in 1965. Payne first became involved with FLOC in 1999 through the Neighborhood Tutoring Program. After joining the FLOC staff in May 2001, Payne worked in various roles for the Neighborhood Tutoring Program and became manager of the program in 2004. After being named FLOC’s Director of Programs and then Executive Director in 2006, Payne succeeded in refocusing the organization’s mission on its education programs.
In 2010, Payne was recognized by The EnVest Foundation with the “40 Under 40” Award, honoring him as one of the city’s outstanding community leaders under the age of 40. In 2012, he was awarded the Essence of Leadership Award at the HandsOn Greater DC Cares Annual Summit. Payne also graduated from the 26th class of Leadership Greater Washington, the region’s largest community leadership program.
Payne holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from The George Washington University.
