Senior Philanthropic Services Officer

Benton Murphy, Senior Philanthropic Services Officer, came to The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region in January 2004. He came to the Foundation through the close connection with the Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington, bringing with him years of experience in the advocacy and nonprofit sectors. Murphy currently staffs The Greater Washington Workforce Development Collaborative, focused on improving workers’ career prospects and earnings by increasing the number of adults on our region with a postsecondary credential.

He has previously supported the work of additional funding collaboratives formerly housed at The Community Foundation, including social justice-oriented groups such as The Washington Area Partnership for Immigrants and The Common Ground Fund, and The Collaborative for Education Organizing, which worked to improve educational outcomes for District youth. Benton holds a masters degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University.
