Urban Alliance

Urban Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing career opportunities for the youth of Washington DC. Since its founding in 1996 by Andrew Plepler, Urban Alliance has helped employ more than 1,200 youth and expanded its program to Baltimore, Chicago, and Northern Virginia. Urban Alliance’s Internship program is a yearlong program for underprivileged high school seniors. Interns gain valuable work experience and receive mentoring and assistance with the college process.

Urban Alliance has been a phenomenal partner throughout the course of Raise DC’s development over the last two years. The Youth Employment Change Network’s monthly discussions are always enriched by the strategies and expertise Urban Alliance encompasses. Raise DC looks to Urban Alliance for bolstering youth employment opportunities and looks forward to its continual support and participation.

Recently, Urban Alliance and executive director Nathaniel Cole were featured in a New York Times article for the organization’s groundbreaking work with underprivileged youth.
